A Qik turnaround

Skype challenged its product design and engineering teams to re-envision the application as a modern, simplified, mobile-first offering. As a result, they came up with Skype Qik, a video messaging app to capture and share spontaneous moments. Although there was much debate early on if marketing assets would even feature the Skype logo, in the end, we kept it for recognition.

Once we had a better sense of basics (like color and the Qik logo), we worked with a couple of external agencies to move things forward while in pre-production on the launch video. We thought we had everything locked down, presented to leadership, and then had to retool a few bits (part of the process). Finally, after a few rounds of fine-tuning, Skype had a fun, more active, new sub-brand.
